Good Riddens April

I'm so glad I only see you once a year because you really pissed me off this year!

A little tid bit about Mrs. A (that's me-wink wink).....I used to cry a lot. And when I say used to, I mean, before I met my husband. I don't know why I would cry a lot, I always thought I was just a very emotional person. When I look back, I don't think that's the reason, I think I was just unhappy or uncertain about my life at that time.

When I met my husband, everything seemed so amazing that I had no reason to cry and well, I haven't cried much since meeting him. The reasons I've cried since meeting him include: *we were doing a long distance relationship for the first 4 months of our relationship so I missed him *when he almost didn't move to NY *when I watch movies or tv shows, I cry over the silliest stuff ....so, these are the only reasons I can think of.

Well, Wednesday, April 28th, I cried....and it wasn't for any of the reasons I listed above.

We have been house hunting since Mid January. To be completely honest, I thought it was going to be so fun, (I watch House Hunters....I know, stuff on TV is not true reality) exciting, etc. All the joys a new home can bring just made me believe that we would find one fast. And how incredible the housing market is for homebuyers right now also gave me false hope. We wanted the Tax Credit....who wouldn't? A "free" $8000 for buying a home...CHA-CHING! Yeah...it ends TODAY and well, we do not have a signed contract.

To make along story short....we have an offer on a Short Sale and have since Feb. 9th. We've been looking since but still holding out hope for that house. I love it! We found one in Paradise Valley that we loved on Tuesday night. It was an older home, needed some work but nothing major that would break the bank or drives us to go batshit crazy. We put the offer in 7am Wednesday morning....by 11am, we found out that they had an accepted offer from Tuesday night and they never updated the information online so we didn't know.........

I cried....and cried.....and cried a little more. lol

I told myself not to get emotionally attached to this house as a good chance of a higher bidder or cash offer were likely. I couldn't help it... the tears...they just started flowing and wouldn't stop for a good 15 minutes.

Not only was it the house but I also started my period. This concludes 5 active months of TTC with no luck and add 2 months of "just seeing what happens." So, a total of 7 months with no BFP (Big Fat Positive).

Needless to say, I'm SO happy to kick April out and start fresh in May! We will plan to go see Dr's to get us tested in hopes of finding us both fertile and ok with the timing part being the issue.

Surprisingly, I'm still very optimistic. Does that surprise you? Because it surprises me....I don't know why I am. I pray every night for the strength to get through this hard time and for the Lord to provide us with a healthy child when He knows we are ready. I only wish I knew when that time was going to happen.

God, give us grace to accept with serenitythe things that cannot be changed,
Courage to change the thingswhich should be changed,
and the Wisdom to distinguishthe one from the other.

Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace,
Taking, as Jesus did,
This sinful world as it is,
Not as I would have it,
Trusting that You will make all things right,
If I surrender to Your will,
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life,
And supremely happy with You forever in the next.

Amen.

A little Hippie like

Yes, I made my own deodorant and my husband called me a Hippie. haha

I've searched high and low for years trying to find a deodorant without antiperspirant in it because that's what they have linked to Breast Cancer. I've found some without it but they just do NOT work. Half way through the day, (mind you, I sit at a desk all day) I'm starting to stink. That's not good and often leads me to putting Dove on at work. haha

A girl I know, Jaye, told me about a recipe she had for making your own deodorant. You can go here for the recipe.

I made it today. It was SUPER easy and it's now sitting in the fridge hardening up. Tomorrow I will use it. I really hope it works as it's going to be way cheaper than buying deodorant AND so much better for me! I'll keep you posted after I try it!

Thanks, Jaye!

Friday's Favorite

I stumbled upon this while trying to find something to get my Mom for Mother's Day. I think it's a lot harder than buying for her Birthday or Christmas.

It's so cute and looks soft. I might get my Mom one but I think I might also tell Mr. A. that that's what I want for our 2 year anniversary. The traditional gift is supposed to be cotton. This looks like cotton, right?! (I don't think it is lol )

I love the side pockets and the Monogram.
Here's hoping Mr. A. gets my BLATANT hint tonight. haha

Friday's Favorite

Having girl friends!!!
I've met quite a few girls from a website call TheNest. Some of these girls, I can really see becoming my great friends. *Cheers to that! lol

Well, tonight, a few of us are going to The Old Spaghetti Factory. I have never been there but who doesn't love a good meal of Carbs? I sure do!!

I cannot WAIT to see what they have. I'm secretly hoping they have A La Vodka sauce...I've been dying for that since we moved here. I have yet to find many and the one I did find, I didn't like it! :-(

What??!! You play Flag Football?!?

So, for work, they have a flag football team every year. Since, this is the 1st year I've worked here, I had no idea about it until I was approached to play. I was ecstatic when I was asked to be on a team. I've always thought it would be fun.

Little did I know how competitive it would be. No joke, these guys are out there to win! Blood, sweat and tears..........they will do whatever they need to do to win. I feared for my life a few times. lol

Here are a few pictures of my 2 touchdowns from the game that put us in the Championship!

Touchdown # 2

After I scored this touchdown...the girl on the right called me a "Ninja." HAHA Apparently because she thought I was super fast. Aww, thanks but I think I have some skill too! hehe

It's going to be so freaking HOT at the end of July...OUTSIDE but I don't care! lol

High Rollers

So, Mr. A and I are on a bowling league on Sundays nights. The girls across the hall asked me to be on their team back in February, I think. So, when we started, the league decided we could have 5 people on a team instead of 4 so Mr. A JUMPED on that opportunity like a kid in a candy store. No joke! lol

We are now down back to 4 people since one girl moved to Albequerque! :-(

It's been about 5 or 6 weeks since we started and we have a blast. The girls we bowl with are fun so we always end up staying past the league and "after bowling" when the lights go out. That's even more fun than the league.

Well, I ordered shirts for our team and they came in on Saturday so I brought them last night and they loved them. I took a few pictures but this is the only one I have on my work computer so without further ado.....here are the High Rollers!!! (I will add more pics later because you will need to see the back too)

It's a little dark because it's a cell phone picture!

Well, honestly, I don't think my achievements are anything spectacular. However, I graduated college in exactly 4 years, I've worked since I turned 16 in order to pay for a car, I've paid for almost everything I've ever owned (My Mom made me work hard for what I wanted and I thank her for that), I got married and moved away from my hometown of 27 years. Moving has probably been my hardest achievement. I've always wanted to move but never really had a reason to, other than the crappy weather, until I met my husband. I'm so happy we moved to a warmer, happier place to live.

Now, it's my turn to tag. I hope I can do this right! lol If I've tagged you....you do the same as above. Answer all the questions and then you tag.! Have fun!

House hunting is NO longer fun

So, we started House Hunting in mid January. We've looked at probably 25 houses. Found one we loved, put an offer in (it's a Short Sale) on Feb. 9th. We knew the issues with Short Sales...they are everything BUT short.

We stopped looking...the selling agent was working really hard for us. The bank (Bank of America) reviewed the offer on March 19th. We were told that if it was a "no", we'd hear right away. Well, we didn't hear anything. It's now April 6th and we still haven't heard anything.

So, we looked at another house today. It was basically all brand new inside the house. It was nice but had many con's to it....
  • neighborhood didn't feel like one...it seemed like the houses were condo's
  • the kitchen was smaller than our apt. kitchen and that's tiny
  • the "living room" def. wouldn't have fit our furniture
  • and that extra front room...I hate them. It's wasted space to me.
The pro's were:
  • brand new appliances in kitchen-never been used
  • granite countertops
  • new carpeting and paint
  • loved the double doors into the master
BUT and there's always a but....it didn't feel like a "home" to us. It just felt like a place we could live in for a few years. Throw some kids into the mix and it'd be a tight squeeze.

It looks as if we'll be missing the $8000 tax credit which is up by the end of this month if you do not sign a contract by then. As much as we'd LOVE that money and how much easier it'd be to get the things we need with that money...we will not settle on a house just for the extra cash. I know that if we did that, I'd regret it and hate our house within less than a year. I don't want that.

So, here we are, waiting for the bank to say "yes" to the offer so we can move on with this process and stop stressing. We want out of our apt. living and all the scum around us who don't care about others except themselves.

We will wait.....
We will hope that once the tax credit is over, the prices of houses with plummet a little more like our Realtor said they would since less people will be buying.
We will pray.....
We will be optimistic....
We will let "what's supposed to happen, happen"
We will love the decisions we end up making.....
WE WILL OWN A HOME THIS YEAR!

Bright Side

So, as you all know, me and Mr. A are TTC! We pulled the goalie in October but didn't really start trying until December. We had the mindset that things would move quickly, as I'm sure many people think after watching all the young, teen mom's get pregnant with no problems, but we quickly learned that creating a miracle is well...just that, a MIRACLE.

I bought and read Taking Chart of Your Fertility and learned quite a bit of stuff about our body, charting, ways to increase your odds of one sex over the other (yes, there actually are things you can do...not different sex positions as many people think lol) and a lot of other things. So, I said to myself, "Why not try charting? It definitely can't hurt me."

So, in December (I think), I did just that. I bought a basil thermometer and took my temperature at 5:30am everyday until I confirmed that I ovulated. The way I knew that I ovulated was by using the OPK's (Ovulation Predictor Kits) and then I stopped. Bad idea....the only way to truly learn anything is to keep up with it even after Oing.

So, I stopped doing it because I hated waking up at the same time even on weekends to take my temperature. When March rolled around and we still hadn't had a Positive test, I decided to start charting again. For March, I did the whole month. I really thought it looked good. They say when your temperature stays up for 18 days straight after ovulation, you are pregnant. I had gotten to day 12 past ovulation and it was still up so I had great thoughts even with a negative test. I thought, well, maybe it's just too early for my cheap tests to detect. Nope, I was wrong, I got my period the next day.

I was devistated...the 1st month that I really wanted to, and almost did a few times at work, cry!!! Now, I know what other people have felt like when it takes them months and months or even years to conceive their little miracle.

The next day, I realized that being sad about it was not going to help me at all. I know that when it's our time to have a child, we will! We are taking all the right precautions...I'm taking prenatals and have been for almost a year now, we're exercising, eating healthy, cutting caffeine, etc. I pray and ask God to bless us with a child when he/she feels the time is right for us. I do hope that it's sooner than later because we are SO ready to have a Baby A!

And don't you worry....I will probably announce it here before a lot of my friends and family know.
